Slip n' and Slidin'

Seeing as the only pictures I got from my brother's wedding reception on Saturday were of us in our swimming suits going down the slip and slide covered in mud and grass, you're going to have to use your imaginations to picture the event. I started on the slip and slide, then when I went to change, I left my camera in my sister's shirt drawer. A lot of good it did there.

Anyway, we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather on Saturday. It was warm enough to enjoy the slip and slide and the pool, but cool enough that those people who didn't want to get wet weren't miserable outside. We were expecting between 150 and 200 guests. I spent all of Friday evening baking and icing 200-some cupcakes, which on Saturday were turned into a cute, tiered masterpiece. There was one cupcake remaining at the end of the evening. That includes, of course, the few cupcakes that had to be disposed of after little ones came and licked off all of the icing. Barbeque, washers, sand volleyball, karaoke...a great time had by all. From the littlest kiddos there to the biggest, I heard many people say it was the best party they had been to in a long time.

Last night we went to Shakespeare in the park to see "Much Ado About Nothing." Fabulously funny. They chose to set the play in the Wild West and pulled it off marvelously. I think it runs until the 17th, so if you're in St. Louis and haven't been yet, I highly recommend heading to Forest Park for an evening.

I leave for retreat on Thursday and am looking immensely foward to the time. People at the reception couldn't believe that I am going to do six days of silence, but once I get there it actually doesn't seem that long. I feel like I just keep unpacking to pack again, but summer tends to be that way for me most times. For now, off to read my book for class tomorrow.

  1. Sarah,

Thanks for all your hard work on the cupcakes!! They were great. Jared and Alyssa took about 5 of them with them when they left!! We all had a great time.

    Love Aunt Ellen
