Summer Retreat

Retreat in Concordia, Kansas. I didn't bring any school stuff with me and am enjoying the time outside, inside, wherever to pray and be and give thanks. Two poems from the week already:

Yellow.

Beautiful, buttery, brilliantly yellow
Bird.

Takes flight,
purposefully playing against the wind,
standing itself still.
All the toil of motion,
but going nowhere.
It's effort grace to me.

Earth's breath
holding still above me the magnificence of God,
laid out in this moment just for me.

Two creatures smiling,
held in Creator Love's early morning kiss.

Cocooning
Wrapped up
Drawing in
Dissolving in safety,
all part of the process.
To be re-built
Stronger.

Emerging
New
Struggling through layers of assurance
Wriggling towards freedom
Life's conditioning
Unfolding
Now what?

Continuing in gratitude...
Peace,
Sarah
